Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has given the green light for the National Drug Survey to be conducted. In a meeting held in Islamabad, he instructed the committee to finalize the survey details within fifteen days.
The survey aims to collect data on drug users across the country. Naqvi emphasized that the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics should collaborate to develop the survey’s methodology, determine the data required, create a sample format, and set a timeline. He also suggested seeking cooperation from international development partners for the survey.
Naqvi stressed that the survey must be thorough and accurate to support effective decision-making in the fight against narcotics. He directed that data collection should extend beyond homes to include educational institutions, slums, and other areas.
Highlighting the importance of this initiative, Naqvi stated there will be no compromise in combating drug issues, as it is crucial for the nation’s future. The previous national drug survey was conducted in 2013.
