Pakistan, Afghanistan agree to boost bilateral co-operation

Pakistan and Afghanistan Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

In a significant development aimed at enhancing regional cooperation, Pakistan and Afghanistan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties through deeper collaboration in key sectors such as security, trade, transit, and connectivity.

The agreement was reached during high-level delegation talks held in Kabul, led by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.

Both sides underscored the importance of continued high-level dialogue to address shared concerns and promote mutual interests. Discussions focused on advancing regional trade, improving border management, and fostering people-to-people connections between the neighboring countries.

Deputy Prime Minister Dar emphasized the urgency of resolving security and border-related issues to unlock the full potential of regional connectivity and economic integration.

The Pakistani delegation included senior representatives from the interior ministry, foreign affairs, railways, and the Federal Board of Revenue. Upon arrival in Kabul for the one-day visit, Dar was welcomed by senior Afghan officials, highlighting the warmth in diplomatic ties.

This visit followed a week of intensive diplomatic engagements, including earlier talks in Kabul led by Pakistani Ambassador Muhammad Sadiq Khan and a reciprocal visit by an Afghan delegation to Islamabad, headed by the Afghan commerce minister.

During the recent session of the Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Coordination Committee (JCC), Pakistani officials highlighted a notable shift in Afghanistan’s approach to regional security concerns. These discussions reflect ongoing efforts to promote stability, economic growth, and peaceful cooperation in the region.
