Apple iPhone 17 Pros Get Cooling Upgrades, 48MP Cameras, and 2TB Option

Apple Unveils iPhone 17 Pro Series with Major Upgrades in Design, Performance, and Cameras

Apple has officially launched the iPhone 17 Pro series, marking the most significant design and performance upgrades in years. Moving away from titanium, Apple returns to aluminum unibody construction, while adding upgraded displays, enhanced cameras, and bigger batteries.

The new Pro models feature Apple’s most powerful chip yet, the A19 Pro, paired with professional-grade photography and video capabilities, making them ideal for both everyday users and creative professionals.

Design and Display

The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are built with Series 7000 aluminum unibody frames and anodized finishes for durability and style. Available in silver, deep blue, and cosmic orange, both devices feature Ceramic Shield 2 on the display, which Apple claims is three times more scratch-resistant and four times more crack-resistant.

The iPhone 17 Pro offers a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display, while the Pro Max has a 6.9-inch panel, both with ProMotion 120Hz adaptive refresh rates, Always-On display, and up to 3,000 nits peak brightness. A seven-layer anti-reflective coating ensures excellent outdoor visibility.

Performance and Software

Powered by the A19 Pro chip, built on a 3nm process, the Pro models feature a six-core CPU, six-core GPU with hardware-accelerated Ray Tracing, and a 16-core Neural Engine for advanced AI tasks. Apple claims the chip delivers MacBook Pro-level performance.

A new vapor chamber cooling system improves sustained performance by 40% compared to the previous generation. Networking is enhanced with the N1 chip, supporting Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. The iPhone 17 Pro series runs iOS 26, featuring Apple’s new Liquid Glass design language.

Cameras

The Pro lineup introduces a redesigned 48MP telephoto camera with a 100mm f/2.8 lens, tetraprism optical design, and sensor-shift stabilization, offering 4x optical zoom and up to 8x digital zoom.

Additionally, both models include a 48MP wide camera and a 48MP ultrawide camera, while the front sports an 18MP Center Stage camera that automatically adjusts the frame for selfies and video calls. Video capabilities now support ProRes RAW, Log 2, genlock, and integration with Final Cut Camera 2.0 and Blackmagic Camera, alongside existing Dolby Vision HDR and 4K at 120fps support.

Battery and Storage

Apple has increased battery capacity, claiming up to 39 hours of video playback, two hours more than the previous generation. Selected markets, including the US, Canada, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and UAE, will receive eSIM-only models with slightly larger batteries.

Storage options start at 256GB, expanding to 512GB and 1TB, with the Pro Max offering a 2TB variant. Pricing is as follows:

  • iPhone 17 Pro: $1,099 (256GB), $1,299 (512GB), $1,499 (1TB)

  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: $1,199 (256GB), $1,399 (512GB), $1,599 (1TB), $1,999 (2TB)

The iPhone 17 Pro series is expected to arrive in Pakistan soon, bringing Apple’s latest innovation to local fans.
