Chelsea Players Donate Club World Cup Bonuses to Honour Late Diogo Jota and Andre Silva

Chelsea players have decided to donate part of their FIFA Club World Cup winning bonuses to support the families of the late Diogo Jota and Andre Silva, as reported by The Athletic.

The Blues earned around €14 million for winning the tournament, with each player receiving approximately €430,000. A portion of these earnings will be given to the families of the two Portuguese footballers who tragically lost their lives on 3rd July in a traffic accident in Zamora, Spain.

The Premier League will honour both players this weekend with a minute’s silence before all matches. In addition, Liverpool will pay tribute by displaying a special mosaic during their game against Bournemouth on Friday.

In a historic move, Liverpool have also retired Jota’s number 20 shirt across their men’s, women’s, and youth teams — the first time the club has made such a gesture — ensuring his legacy lives on in Anfield history.
