Imran Khan’s nephew sent to jail on judicial remand in May 9 case

Court Sends Shahrez Khan to Judicial Remand in Jinnah House Case

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Saturday sent Shahrez Khan, son of Aleema Khan and nephew of PTI founder Imran Khan, to jail on judicial remand in connection with the Jinnah House case.

Shahrez was arrested on August 21 and presented before Judge Manzer Ali Gill after the completion of his physical remand. During the hearing, the prosecution requested an extension in physical remand for further investigation. However, the court rejected the request and ordered judicial remand instead.

Shahrez and his brother, Shershah Khan, are both facing charges related to the May 9 events, including their alleged role in the Jinnah House attack. According to officials, the case also involves accusations of participating in an anti-state campaign.

The May 9 unrest followed the arrest of the PTI founder in 2023, during which incidents of vandalism and damage to public and private property were reported across the country. The Jinnah House incident became one of the most high-profile cases stemming from that day.

Sources previously told Geo News that Shershah had been present at the time of the attack alongside other party members and was facing allegations of arson, vandalism, and digital campaigning against the state. He reportedly left the country after the incident and spent nearly two years in London.

The case remains under investigation, with further legal proceedings expected in the coming weeks.
