Jannik Sinner Dominates in Cincinnati Title Defense Opener

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner kicked off his Cincinnati title defense with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 win over qualifier Daniel Elahi Galan in just 59 minutes, marking his fastest completed ATP victory.

Returning to action after Wimbledon, Sinner wasted no time setting the pace with a powerful combination of speed and precision. His strong serve was a key factor on the fast courts, helping him save the only break point he faced and stay in control throughout the match.

The four-time Major champion praised his sharp form but knows the challenge ahead won’t get any easier. “The conditions here demand great accuracy and composure,” Sinner said. “If I want to make a deep run, I need to keep improving my serve and maintain focus.”

Known for his explosive shot-making and careful game plan, Sinner aims to become the first player since Roger Federer a decade ago to win back-to-back Cincinnati titles.

“I’m happy with today’s result and the fantastic crowd,” Sinner added. “But there’s still room for improvement, and I’m focused on raising my level in the coming rounds.”
