Lahore to Impound Vehicles Over Unpaid E-Challans
October 8, 2025
The Lahore Traffic Police, in coordination with the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), has launched a major crackdown on motorists who have failed to clear their pending e-challans. So far, 2,546 vehicles have been blacklisted and marked for immediate impoundment.
Crackdown on Habitual Defaulters
According to officials, an action plan has been finalized to target habitual violators and enforce strict measures to recover unpaid fines. The initiative aims to promote compliance with traffic rules and enhance road safety across the provincial capital.
Vehicles to Be Traced via Safe City Cameras
Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr. Athar Waheed stated that the blacklisted vehicles will be tracked through Safe City surveillance cameras installed throughout Lahore. These vehicles will be seized until all outstanding fines are paid in full.
“E-challans are issued automatically through Safe City cameras without discrimination, and it is mandatory for all citizens to clear their fines,” Dr. Waheed emphasized.
Traffic wardens have been directed to check e-challan records of vehicles during routine duties to ensure enforcement.
Initial List Targets Major Offenders
Initially, vehicles with 50 or more unpaid e-challans have been included in the blacklist. Officials added that the use of modern traffic monitoring technology has significantly improved road discipline in recent months.
The PSCA teams are actively supporting the traffic police in the impoundment drive, which is part of a larger campaign to curb traffic violations and enhance urban mobility across Lahore.
