Miranda Wang Wins First LPGA Title with Dramatic Finish at FM Championship

Miranda Wang delivered a clutch performance over the final three holes to claim her first LPGA Tour title, finishing with a 2-under 70 for a one-shot victory over Jeeno Thitikul at the FM Championship on Sunday.

Wang, who briefly lost the lead to the world No. 1 Thitikul, showcased remarkable composure under pressure to secure the win, becoming the seventh LPGA rookie winner of the year and continuing the tour’s streak of no multiple winners in the first 23 tournaments.

“This is a dream come true. I hope this is the first of many, and I’ll keep working hard,” said Wang, who previously helped Duke University win the NCAA team title in 2019.

Final Round Highlights

  • Thitikul, who recently claimed the No. 1 ranking from Nelly Korda, tied Wang for the lead with a brilliant birdie on the 9th hole.

  • Wang briefly faltered with a missed 3-foot birdie on the par-5 12th and a bogey on the 15th after landing in a bunker.

  • She recovered with nerves of steel over the final holes, capitalizing on key opportunities to secure the victory.

Wang’s first LPGA win marks a milestone in her career and highlights the depth of talent on the tour this season, as rookies continue to make their mark against the sport’s top-ranked players.
