Kasur on High Alert as Sutlej Floods Threaten Villages
Kasur, Pakistan – The district administration and rescue teams have raised flood warnings across Kasur after India released additional water into the Sutlej River on Monday. Officials say the next two days are critical as they work to prevent further damage.
Despite water levels receding to over 100,000 cusecs, crops in 10 downstream villages were submerged after the Jalaldinwala embankment washed away. Affected villages include Fatohiwala, Chohriwala, Wazirpur, Kujian, Nooriwala, Kharaipar, Aloanna, Chhabar, Bhadian, and Usmanwala. Authorities warn that upstream villages could also face flooding if the Talwar post embankment breaks, potentially affecting areas near the city.

Ganda Singh Headworks: Water discharge recorded at 240,000 cusecs, down from a recent peak of 385,000 cusecs.

Incidents & Rescues

A boat carrying two families in Kothi Fateh Muhammad, Kanganpur, was rescued after engine failure.

Sadly, four people have drowned in floodwaters so far, including Abdul Salam (30) and Muhammad Arshad (18).
Authorities continue 24/7 monitoring and urge residents to stay vigilant as the floodwaters move through the district.
