WhatsApp Beta Introduces ‘Ask Meta AI’ Feature for Smarter Chat Verification
WhatsApp has rolled out a new update in its beta version, bringing the app to version 25.26.10.71. The highlight of this update is the “Ask Meta AI” feature, allowing users to directly question Meta AI about any chat message—without leaving the app or Googling confusing terms.
With this update, a new “Ask Meta AI” option appears in the menu for incoming messages. Selecting it opens a chat window with Meta AI, quoting the selected message as a reference. Users can then add context or questions before sending, encouraging active clarification, verification, or deeper understanding of the information received.
Importantly, the content of the selected message remains invisible to Meta AI until the user chooses to submit it with added context, ensuring privacy and control.
WhatsApp initially introduced this shortcut on Android, and now iOS users will enjoy a similar experience. The feature is designed to streamline fact-checking, support clarification, and reduce the spread of misleading or unclear information—all without interrupting ongoing chats.
By requiring manual input, the feature discourages passive forwarding and encourages thoughtful engagement. It provides a faster, convenient way to assess message reliability, seek explanations, or verify news headlines.
Currently, the feature is available to select beta testers and will gradually roll out to more users in the coming weeks. Some users on the stable release may also get early access as part of this phased rollout.
