Over 2,500 Telecom Towers Knocked Offline by Heavy Rains in Sindh

Heavy Rains in Sindh Disrupt Mobile Services, PTA Works to Restore Connectivity

Torrential rains in Sindh, especially in Karachi, caused major disruptions to mobile and internet services, affecting thousands of users.

According to sources from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), over 2,500 telecom towers went offline due to the storm. PTA teams immediately began restoration efforts and successfully brought 1,800 towers back online within 24 hours. Most areas in Karachi now have mobile and internet connectivity restored.

The outages were mainly caused by power failures and damage to telecom equipment during the heavy downpour. PTA has instructed local authorities to ensure a stable power supply to tower sites to prevent prolonged service interruptions.

“PTA teams are continuing work on the remaining towers to fully restore services across Sindh,” the sources said, adding that the authority is coordinating closely with local administrations to speed up recovery efforts.
