Punjab Food Authority Launches Second Phase of School Nutrition Program with UNICEF

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA), in collaboration with UNICEF, has launched the second phase of its School Nutrition Program, following positive results from the initial rollout.

During a recent consultative session, PFA’s Director of Planning & Coordination, Muneer Hussain Chopra, highlighted the achievements of the first phase and outlined goals for expanding the initiative.

UNICEF reaffirmed its support, with both organizations agreeing to increase training sessions and awareness campaigns on balanced diets, food diversity, and essential micronutrients.

PFA Director General Asim Javaid emphasized the need for a comprehensive strategy, noting that zinc and iron deficiencies affect 25% and 30% of children, contributing to serious health concerns. Nutritionists from PFA are actively engaging with students to promote healthier eating habits, aiming for long-term impact and sustainability.

UNICEF officials praised PFA’s leadership and pledged continued collaboration to improve child nutrition across Punjab.
