Russia Warns US Against Military Support to Israel Amid Escalating Middle East Conflict
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov on Wednesday cautioned that direct U.S. military assistance to Israel could significantly destabilize the situation in the Middle East. Speaking to the Interfax news agency, Ryabkov urged Washington to avoid supplying military aid to Israel or even considering such steps.
Moscow remains in communication with both Israel and Iran as tensions continue to rise. Meanwhile, Sergei Naryshkin, head of Russiaβs foreign intelligence service (SVR), described the conflict between Iran and Israel as βcritical.β
Recent reports suggest that the U.S. administration, including former President Donald Trump and his team, is exploring options, such as joining Israeli strikes against Iranian nuclear sites. On social media, Trump stated, βWe know exactly where the so-called βSupreme Leaderβ is hidingβ¦ We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for nowβ¦ Our patience is wearing thin.β
In response, Iranβs Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared that Iran βwill stand firm against an imposed war, just as it will stand firm against an imposed peace.β In a televised address, Khamenei emphasized that Iran will not surrender under pressure and warned the U.S. that any military intervention would have severe consequences.
As the conflict enters its sixth day, missile exchanges between Iran and Israel continue. The Israeli military reported two barrages of Iranian missiles early Wednesday morning, with explosions heard over Tel Aviv. In retaliation, Israel ordered evacuations in parts of Tehran to strike Iranian military targets.
Iranian media confirmed Israeli airstrikes on a university linked to Iranβs Revolutionary Guards in Tehranβs east, as well as the Khojir ballistic missile facility near the capital, which was previously targeted last October.
