Stefanos Tsitsipas Struggles Continue Amid Coaching Changes and Ranking Slide
Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas is currently facing one of the most challenging periods of his professional career. Once ranked as high as world No. 3, Tsitsipas is struggling to regain form, despite multiple efforts to bounce back on the ATP Tour.
A Difficult Season for the Former ATP Finals Champion
Tsitsipas, known for his explosive game and flair on the court, has seen his consistency drop in recent months. His latest coaching experiment with Goran Ivanisevic — former coach of Novak Djokovic — sparked curiosity among fans and experts. Many believed Ivanisevic could help Tsitsipas rediscover his rhythm, but their partnership ended abruptly after disappointing performances at Halle and Wimbledon.
Reuniting with Family and Facing Fresh Setbacks
Following the short-lived stint with Ivanisevic, Tsitsipas decided to reunite with his father and former coach, Apostolos Tsitsipas, after a year-long separation. However, their first outing together at the Toronto Masters 1000 ended in an early exit, adding to the string of underwhelming results.
Eyes Set on Cincinnati and the US Open
Now, Cincinnati Masters 1000 is Tsitsipas’ final chance to build momentum before the US Open, the last Grand Slam of the season. So far, he has not delivered any notable results at Flushing Meadows — a stat he’s determined to change.
Tsitsipas: “Tennis Is Brutal”
Amid the turbulence, Tsitsipas took to his official X (formerly Twitter) profile to share a heartfelt reflection on the harsh realities of professional tennis:
“Tennis is beautiful not because it’s graceful, but because it’s brutal. It shows you at your weakest, sweating, failing, breathing hard, asking questions you don’t have answers to. And in all that, you find something worth holding onto. Something that keeps you stepping back to the baseline.”
A Comeback Still Possible?
Despite recent setbacks, many believe that Tsitsipas has the talent to return to the top. But to do so, he’ll need to resolve both his technical issues and inner conflicts — including adjusting to coaching dynamics and handling personal pressures, such as his recent split from fellow tennis star Paula Badosa.
