Mondo Duplantis Breaks Pole Vault World Record Again with 6.29m Clearance in Budapest
Sweden’s Mondo Duplantis has once again pushed the limits of pole vaulting, setting a new world record of 6.29 metres at the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest on Tuesday. This marks the 13th time the double Olympic champion has broken his own record.
The 25-year-old improved on his previous mark of 6.28m, set in Stockholm in June, clearing the bar on his second attempt at the Istvan Gyulai Memorial. Despite missing his first try, Duplantis celebrated his record-breaking leap with his partner Desire Inglander and family, delighting the Budapest crowd.
“I love Hungary very much. The track is excellent, and I love the crowd,” Duplantis said after his achievement.
Since first breaking the world record in 2020 with a 6.17m jump in Poland, Duplantis has continuously raised the bar, surpassing legendary Sergey Bubka by 15 centimetres. He now heads to the Silesia Diamond League, where he aims to continue his record-breaking streak.
