2026 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship Schedule Announced

2026 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship Coming to Nova Scotia

SYDNEY & MEMBERTOU, Nova Scotia – Hockey Canada and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) have officially announced the schedule for the 2026 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship, taking place January 10–18, 2026, in Sydney and Membertou.

A Celebration of Women’s Hockey

“We are excited to announce the schedule as Cape Breton prepares to welcome the world,” said D’Arcy Hutcheson, director of events with Hockey Canada. “This tournament will be a remarkable celebration of women’s hockey, and the impact of hosting will benefit local communities before, during, and long after the event.”

IIHF president Luc Tardif added:

“The U18 Women’s World Championship is critical to the growth and visibility of women’s hockey globally. Bringing this prestigious tournament to Nova Scotia highlights the incredible passion for hockey in the region and will showcase the sport’s next generation of stars.”


Venues & Schedule

  • Membertou Sport & Wellness Centre (1,250 seats) will host all preliminary-round games.

  • Centre 200 in Sydney (5,000 seats, home of the Cape Breton Eagles) will stage the playoff rounds, including the gold medal game on Sunday, Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m. AT.


Broadcast Coverage

Canadian fans can watch the action live, as TSN and RDS—official broadcast partners of Hockey Canada—will provide exclusive coverage of:

  • All Team Canada games

  • Both semifinals

  • The bronze and gold medal games

Viewers are encouraged to check local listings for full broadcast schedules.

“With the schedule now released, the excitement is building across Nova Scotia,” said Leijsa Wilton, chair of Hockey Nova Scotia’s Female Council. “Fans can circle their calendars for January and look forward to a world-class tournament that will inspire the next generation of young players.”
