2026 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship Coming to Nova Scotia
SYDNEY & MEMBERTOU, Nova Scotia – Hockey Canada and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) have officially announced the schedule for the 2026 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship, taking place January 10–18, 2026, in Sydney and Membertou.
A Celebration of Women’s Hockey
“We are excited to announce the schedule as Cape Breton prepares to welcome the world,” said D’Arcy Hutcheson, director of events with Hockey Canada. “This tournament will be a remarkable celebration of women’s hockey, and the impact of hosting will benefit local communities before, during, and long after the event.”
IIHF president Luc Tardif added:
“The U18 Women’s World Championship is critical to the growth and visibility of women’s hockey globally. Bringing this prestigious tournament to Nova Scotia highlights the incredible passion for hockey in the region and will showcase the sport’s next generation of stars.”
Venues & Schedule

Membertou Sport & Wellness Centre (1,250 seats) will host all preliminary-round games.

Centre 200 in Sydney (5,000 seats, home of the Cape Breton Eagles) will stage the playoff rounds, including the gold medal game on Sunday, Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m. AT.
