British Council, FCDO, and KP Government Launch ILMpact to Educate 80,000 Marginalised Children

ILMpact Education Programme Launched to Uplift Disadvantaged Communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

In a powerful step toward educational reform, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has officially launched ILMpact—a transformative education initiative developed in collaboration with the British Council and funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).

🎯 Targeting the Most Underserved Regions

The ILMpact programme is designed to tackle long-standing educational challenges in some of the most disadvantaged and remote areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
It focuses on marginalized children, particularly:

  • Girls

  • Out-of-school children

  • Religious and ethnic minorities

  • Children with disabilities

👧 Empowering Over 80,000 Children

The initiative will deliver quality learning opportunities to more than 80,000 underserved children through a multi-pronged approach, including:

  • Early childhood education

  • Teacher training and capacity building

  • Gender equity and inclusion

  • Reintegration of out-of-school children

The goal is to create a more equitable and inclusive education system that fosters improved learning outcomes and long-term development.

🗣️ Voices of Support

James Hampson, Country Director at the British Council in Pakistan, emphasized the programme’s impact:

“ILMpact is laying the foundations for a future where every child, regardless of their background, has the chance to learn, grow, and succeed.”

Ali Amin Gandapur, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighted the province’s vision:

“The ILMpact programme reflects our unwavering commitment to building a future where every child—regardless of geography, gender, or socio-economic background—is learning and thriving in school.”

🔧 Building a Replicable Model for Change

The launch of ILMpact is not just about expanding access—it’s about systemic transformation.
By focusing on foundational learning, inclusivity, and equity, the programme aims to:

  • Close the education gap in KP

  • Improve long-term academic performance

  • Create a scalable and replicable model for national and global education systems

🌍 A United Vision for a Brighter Future

This flagship initiative brings together key stakeholders, including the KP Government, British Council, FCDO, and civil society partners, all working toward a common goal: ensuring no child is left behind.
