PSB Threatens Action Against Pakistan Baseball Federation

Pakistan Sports Board Issues Show-Cause Notice to Baseball Federation Over Protocol Breach

September 19, 2025

The already tense relationship between the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and national sports federations has worsened after the PSB issued a show-cause notice to the Pakistan Federation Baseball (PFB), warning of strict action over alleged violations of official protocol.

Participation Without Approval

According to the PSB, the national baseball team took part in the 12th BFA U15 Baseball Championship in Chinese Taipei in August 2025 without first obtaining the mandatory No Objection Certificate (NOC). The board described this as a serious breach of regulations, calling it “gross negligence and disregard for official responsibilities.”

Past Allegations Resurface

The notice also recalled that the federation had previously faced accusations of forging documents to justify its participation in a 2024 event in Taipei. That matter is still under review by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Officials noted that the latest incident reflects a “pattern of misconduct and misrepresentation,” raising questions about governance standards.

Possible Consequences

The PSB has warned that if the federation fails to provide a satisfactory explanation within seven days, it could face:

  • Suspension of operations

  • Legal proceedings

  • Stricter monitoring of future activities

Ongoing Rift in Sports Governance

This episode underscores the growing rift between the PSB and various national federations. Disagreements over funding, oversight, and NOC approvals have become more common in recent years. While federations argue that the PSB’s rules restrict international exposure for athletes, the board maintains that compliance is necessary to ensure transparency and accountability.

What’s Next?

The Pakistan Federation Baseball has not yet released a public statement. With the possibility of suspension on the table, the situation could escalate further — once again putting athletes in a difficult position amid ongoing disputes between the country’s sports authorities.
