Iñigo MartÃnez Reportedly Set to Leave Barcelona Amid Saudi Interest
Veteran defender Iñigo MartÃnez is reportedly on the verge of departing FC Barcelona, as Saudi club Al-Nassr expresses strong interest in signing the experienced center-back.
According to transfer experts Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto, negotiations between MartÃnez and Al-Nassr are progressing quickly, with a verbal agreement already in place. The 34-year-old is said to be seriously considering the move, which would offer him a lucrative final contract in his professional career.
Barcelona Open to Departure
MartÃnez has already spoken with the Barcelona board about his potential exit. While his departure would leave a gap in the defensive line—especially under new manager Hansi Flick—it would also free up crucial space in the club’s wage structure. With financial fair play restrictions still impacting the club, reducing the wage bill remains a high priority.
Reports suggest Barcelona would not block the transfer, as the player is expected to terminate his contract and join Al-Nassr as a free agent.
Contract Details with Al-Nassr
If the deal is finalized, MartÃnez will sign with Al-Nassr until June 2026, with an option to extend for an additional year based on performance-related clauses.
This move reflects a growing trend of experienced European players heading to the Saudi Pro League, drawn by both the competitive environment and substantial financial incentives.
