Wales Names 32-Player Squad for 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup
Wales head coach Sean Lynn has announced a 32-player squad to compete at the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup, featuring 19 forwards and 13 backs. The squad includes a blend of experienced players and exciting new talent ready to represent Wales on rugby’s biggest stage.
Co-captain Alex Callender, who was injured during the final warm-up match against Australia, has been named in the squad alongside fellow co-captain Kate Williams. All 30 players who helped Wales secure their historic first Test win against the Wallaroos in Australia have been selected.
Wales U20s captain Branwen Metcalfe is the only uncapped player called up, impressing during the U20s Six Nations Summer Series. The squad also includes two sets of sisters: Branwen and fullback Nel Metcalfe, as well as prop Gwenllian Pyrs and lock Alaw Pyrs.
Experienced hooker Carys Phillips will be playing in her fourth World Cup, while recent debutants Seren Lockwood (scrum half), Katherine Baverstock (prop), and Tilly Vucaj (lock) will experience their first World Cup environment.
Lynn commented:
“These 32 players have earned the honour to represent Wales at what promises to be the biggest and best Women’s Rugby World Cup. It’s a strong squad with a great balance of experience and youthful energy. We’re ready for the challenge ahead and determined to make our nation proud.”
