AirLink Communication is reportedly in discussions to add a new international mobile phone brand to its local assembly lineup in Pakistan — a move that could further boost the country’s growing smartphone manufacturing industry.

During a recent corporate briefing, company officials confirmed that talks are underway with a potential partner but did not disclose the brand’s name or share specific details. However, they noted that preparations have already begun to accommodate another major collaboration within AirLink’s existing production facilities.

AirLink currently assembles multiple global smartphone brands at its Lahore-based plant, which has become a key hub for local device production. Adding a new brand would help maximize capacity utilization and support the government’s continued focus on promoting local manufacturing to reduce import dependency and create more jobs.

Pakistan’s mobile manufacturing sector has shown remarkable growth over the past year. In July 2025 alone, local production surpassed 3.5 million units, marking a 123% year-on-year increase, according to official data. This surge reflects the impact of policies designed to encourage domestic assembly over imports.

AirLink has emphasized that its Lahore facility is fully equipped for large-scale operations and plays a significant role in Pakistan’s mobile phone output.
