Beatriz Haddad Maia Ends 2025 Tennis Season Early to Focus on Health
Brazilian tennis star Beatriz Haddad Maia has decided to bring her 2025 season to an early close in order to prioritize her health and recovery.
The world No. 40 announced the news on Instagram, explaining that she needs extra time to rest both physically and mentally.
“I’m ending my 2025 season a little earlier than planned so I can rest my body and mind for a longer period. Be sure that I will be back stronger, and the best is yet to come,” Haddad Maia wrote.
Her decision comes just a week after a concerning moment at the WTA tournament in Seoul, where she experienced difficulty breathing and trembling hands during a match. Medical staff checked her blood pressure before she continued to play.
Despite the setback, Haddad Maia showed determination. She won her opening-round match but was later defeated in the round of 16 by Ella Seidel. The Brazilian held a 5-2 lead in the deciding set and even had a match point, but ultimately lost the final five games.
Haddad Maia, once ranked inside the world’s top 10, faced a challenging year with 26 losses in 42 matches. Still, she remains optimistic about her comeback in 2026.
Fans and fellow players have expressed support for her decision, praising her focus on long-term health over short-term results.
