Nepra Approves Rs. 1.79 Per Unit Negative Fuel Adjustment for July 2025
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has announced a major relief for electricity consumers, approving a negative fuel cost adjustment (FCA) of Rs. 1.79 per unit for power consumed in July 2025. This reduction will be reflected in September’s electricity bills.
Relief Details
In its official notification, Nepra stated:
“The authority has decided to allow a negative FCA of Rs. 1.7859/kWh for July 2025, to be passed on to the consumers in the billing month of September 2025.”
This relief applies to all consumer categories of K-Electric and ex-Wapda distribution companies (XWDiscos), except for lifeline consumers, protected domestic consumers, prepaid users, and Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS).
Billing Adjustments
Nepra clarified that the adjustment will be shown separately in consumers’ bills according to the units billed. If September bills are issued before the notification’s release, the adjustment will be carried forward to the following month.
Additional Relief for K-Electric Consumers
In a separate decision, Nepra also approved a negative FCA of Rs. 0.78 per unit for K-Electric consumers, linked to fuel charge variations for June 2025.
“The negative FCA for June 2025, i.e., Rs. 0.7772/kWh, will also be reflected in the September bills,” Nepra added.
What This Means for Consumers
The negative adjustment translates into lower bills for millions of households and businesses, offering much-needed relief at a time of high living costs.
