Defending Champions Return for Open Squash Classic 2025 in New York

The Open Squash Classic 2025 is set to take place from 5-9 October at Open Squash FiDi, New York City, featuring top talent on the PSA Squash Tour Bronze-level event. Defending champions Marwan ElShorbagy and Farida Mohamed aim for back-to-back title wins in front of fans, with all matches broadcast live on SQUASHTV.

Last year, ElShorbagy defeated Victor Crouin, while Mohamed overcame Hong Kong’s Ka Yi Lee to claim their titles. Both players are expected to make strong runs from their seeded positions.

World No.5 ElShorbagy could meet Crouin again in a potential final, but first must navigate a tough half of the draw including Leonel Cardenas, Gregoire Marche, and Mohamed ElSherbini. Cardenas, Mexico’s No.1, had a standout 2024/25 season with titles at the Manchester Open and Cambridge Group of Clubs Classic.

In the bottom half, Crouin may face Eain Yow Ng, a World No.12, for a high-stakes semi-final. Other threats include Miguel Rodriguez and India’s Ramit Tandon.

In the women’s event, Farida Mohamed, seeded No.4, will take on Scotland’s Georgia Adderley in the quarter-finals, with a possible semi-final against Egyptian rising star Fayrouz Aboelkheir. Top seed Nada Abbas is chasing her fifth PSA title and first World Tour victory. Other top seeds in the women’s draw include Salma Hany, Malak Khafagy, and Hana Moataz, promising fierce competition.

Two wildcards, Yaseen Shalaby (USA) and Pedro Gomes (Brazil), will also compete in the men’s draw, adding local interest and excitement for the fans.
