Electricity Consumers Across Pakistan to Get Rs. 1.8 Per Unit Discount

NEPRA Approves Rs. 1.88 Per Unit Quarterly Tariff Relief for Power Consumers

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a quarterly tariff relief of Rs. 1.8881 per unit following petitions filed by the Ex-WAPDA Distribution Companies (X-DISCOs).

According to a press release issued on Thursday, the relief will be implemented under the uniform tariff policy and will also be applicable to K-Electric (KE) consumers, except for lifeline and prepaid customers. The adjustment will be effective for three months, from August to October 2025.

Uniform Tariff Policy Explained

Under Pakistan’s uniform tariff structure, electricity rates remain consistent across the country to ensure equal pricing for all consumers. These rates are determined through a coordinated process involving the federal government and NEPRA, and cannot be altered independently by individual distribution companies.

Public Hearing Process Ensures Transparency

Before final approval, all tariff adjustment requests undergo a comprehensive review process, including public hearings. The petition for the current relief adjustment was deliberated in a public hearing held on August 4, 2025.

This move aims to provide temporary financial relief to electricity users amid fluctuating energy costs. Consumers are encouraged to monitor official notifications from NEPRA for further details regarding their respective electricity bills.
