ENG vs IND 2025: “This Series Will Rank Right at the Top,” Says KL Rahul After India’s Thrilling Comeback

In a nail-biting finish to the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, India pulled off a remarkable six-run victory in the fifth Test at The Oval, leveling the five-match series 2-2. Speaking after the match, senior batter KL Rahul described the series as one of the most memorable in India’s Test cricket history.

Despite being written off early in the tour, Team India showed incredible grit and resilience to bounce back and fight till the final delivery. “For a team that wasn’t given a chance… to end the series 2-2 may seem like a drop. But for us and Indian Test cricket, this ranks right at the top,” said Rahul.

Rahul’s Consistent Form

KL Rahul played a pivotal role in India’s fightback, finishing as the third-highest run-scorer in the series with 532 runs in 10 innings. While acknowledging the prestige of lifting a World Cup, Rahul emphasized how Test cricket holds a special emotional place for players due to the sheer hard work and mental toughness it demands.

“We’ve seen India lift the World Cup… nothing compares to that. But the way both teams played this series proves that Test cricket is alive and thriving,” he added.

Praise for Captain Shubman Gill

Rahul also reserved special praise for skipper Shubman Gill, who led the team with maturity well beyond his years. “Shubman’s been phenomenal. He’s led from the front, built great team chemistry, and made smart tactical decisions that often brought us breakthroughs. He’s here to stay as a leader,” said Rahul.

Gill’s own batting performances added to his growing stature, with many experts already calling him the future face of Indian Test cricket.

England’s Response: Mutual Respect

England captain Ben Stokes, who missed the final Test due to injury, credited both teams for their commitment and passion. “Ending the series 2-2 shows how hard both sides worked. The second bowling innings especially was a proud moment,” said Stokes.

England, under temporary captain Ollie Pope, looked in control during the final Test until a late collapse saw them fall just six runs short of the target. Stokes pointed to the injury of Chris Woakes on Day 1 as a key moment that hampered England’s chances.

Final Thoughts

The 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy will go down as a classic, not just for the cricket but for the heart, fight, and leadership shown by both sides. As India prepares for future overseas challenges, this series will undoubtedly serve as a benchmark for what the team can achieve under pressure.
