Pakistan’s emerging boxing star Fatima Zahra has made history by securing the country’s first medal at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
A Historic Win for Pakistan
Competing in the women’s -60 kg category, the 27-year-old from Sargodha advanced to the semifinals after an impressive 5–0 victory over Hamda Melissa of Algeria in the quarterfinals.
Her win ensures Pakistan’s first confirmed podium finish at the multi-nation event.
Fatima’s performance was dominant from the start — she displayed excellent technique, timing, and footwork, taking control of the bout early and maintaining composure through all three rounds to claim a unanimous decision victory.
Pakistan’s Rising Boxing Talent
Having started her boxing career in 2018, Fatima Zahra has quickly become one of Pakistan’s most consistent female athletes.
She has been the national champion in her division for four consecutive years, represented Pakistan at the Asian Games, and competed in Olympic qualifiers.
Her latest success adds another chapter to her growing career and highlights the increasing presence of women athletes in Pakistan’s boxing scene.

Pakistan has sent 55 athletes to the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, participating in various sports including Athletics, Wushu, Swimming, Boxing, Fencing, Ju-Jitsu, Karate, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, and Wrestling.
