Dengue Outbreak: Holidays Cancelled for Health Workers to Continue Anti-Dengue Drive

In response to the rising number of dengue cases, the Deputy Commissioner’s Office has announced new measures to ensure uninterrupted anti-dengue operations across the city.

Holidays Cancelled for Health Staff

A notification issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (HQ) states that all officers and staff involved in dengue prevention and control will continue working on Sundays, public holidays, and religious occasions until further notice.

The directive also clarifies that 12th Rabi-ul-Awal will be treated as a normal working day for health workers, keeping the campaign fully active.

Rising Dengue Cases

According to the District Health Authority, 10 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours. Currently, 21 patients are receiving treatment in various hospitals, bringing the total number of reported cases to 188 since January 2025.

Health Authority spokesperson Dr. Waqar Ahmad confirmed that staff, including senior officials, will remain on duty throughout the weekend despite the cancellation of the Eid Milad-un-Nabi holiday.

Focus on Continuous Operations

Officials stressed that these steps are necessary to maintain momentum in the anti-dengue campaign, especially as the number of infections continues to rise.
