Government Expected to Cut Petrol Prices Soon; Diesel and Kerosene Likely to Rise

Government Expected to Cut Petrol Prices Soon; Diesel and Kerosene Likely to Rise
Β  November 13, 2025Β

The federal government is reportedly preparing to reduce the per-litre price of MS petrol in the upcoming fortnightly petroleum price update, while diesel, kerosene, and light diesel oil are expected to see price increases, according to industry sources.

Β Petrol rates could fall by up to Rs. 2 per litre, providing some relief to motorists amid rising fuel costs.

Conversely, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) is projected to increase by Rs. 9.60 per litre, reflecting recent international market trends. If approved, the new HSD price is expected to reach Rs. 288.40 per litre.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will submit its pricing summary to the government on November 15, using global fuel prices and industry data as benchmarks for the adjustments.

Previously, the government had raised HSD prices by Rs. 3.02 per litre, bringing it to Rs. 278.44 per litre, while MS petrol increased by Rs. 2.43 per litre, reaching Rs. 265.43 per litre.
