Hammad Miah Claims Victory at WPBSA Q Tour Europe Event in Stockholm
September 1, 2025
Hammad Miah defeated Patrick Whelan 4-2 in the final to win the first WPBSA Q Tour Europe event of the 2025/26 season at Snookerhallen, Stockholm, Sweden.
The 32-year-old Englishman, who was relegated from the World Snooker Tour last season, impressed against a field of 94 players, including several former professionals, making a perfect start to his bid to return to the professional ranks.
Miah produced a string of high-quality breaks throughout the tournament, including a whitewash over Sean Maddocks, a decisive 50 against Ashley Carty, and a top break of 92 in his 4-1 win over Ryan Thomerson. He also defeated reigning World Seniors champion Alfie Burden 4-1 and overcame Peter Lines 4-2 with breaks of 71, 61, and 109 to reach the final.
In the best-of-seven final, Whelan started strongly with a 105 break, but Miah fought back with a 75 and a 76 clearance to take the lead. Whelan captured frame five, but a missed blue in frame six allowed Miah to secure victory.
After the win, Miah said, “I’m happy with the way I finished off the final. I’m not 100% satisfied, but I did enough to win. This gives me confidence for the rest of the season. My goal is to win a few more events and secure my tour card for next season.”
This victory marks a strong start for Miah in his journey to regain professional status and sets the tone for the rest of the Q Tour season.
