Australia to Host 2027 WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals

Australia will welcome the world’s top eight women’s softball teams to Redcliffe, Queensland for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals 2027, marking a major event on the international sports calendar.

The announcement was made in Redcliffe by WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari, alongside Softball Australia CEO Sarah Loh, and representatives from the Australian and Queensland Governments, as well as the City of Moreton Bay.

Scheduled from 5 to 11 April 2027, the tournament will serve as a key stepping stone for teams aiming for gold at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. The event will be broadcast globally, bringing international attention to Australia’s rich softball tradition.

Australia has a long history in women’s softball, hosting the first WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship in Melbourne in 1965, and medaling in almost every Olympic Games edition since the sport’s inclusion in 1996.

The 2027 Finals are supported by the Australian Government, Queensland Government, and the City of Moreton Bay, and will leave a lasting legacy for both the sport and the local community. Queensland will also host national championships ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympics, further boosting softball’s profile nationwide.

Softball clubs, state associations, and hundreds of volunteers will help deliver a world-class experience. Combined with Softball Australia’s “We Love Softball, So Will You” grassroots campaign, the event is set to inspire a new generation of players and fans across the country.
