Serie A Shock: Inter Milan Lose 2-1 to Udinese, Juve and Napoli Stay Perfect

Milan, Italy – Inter Milan suffered a surprise 2-1 home defeat to Udinese on Sunday, losing early ground on Serie A leaders Napoli and rivals Juventus, who secured a 1-0 win at Genoa thanks to Dusan Vlahovic.

Under new manager Cristian Chivu, Inter hoped to challenge for the Scudetto, but after two rounds, champions Napoli remain unbeaten alongside Juventus, AS Roma, and promoted Cremonese.

“We started well but lacked fluidity. We struggled to create and didn’t make the right plays,” Chivu told DAZN.

Inter opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Dumfries tapped in a Marcus Thuram assist, but Udinese quickly responded. A handball by Dumfries led to a penalty, converted by Keinan Davis, leveling the score.

Udinese then took the lead five minutes before halftime, with Arthur Atta firing a strike from the edge of the area after a Davis pass, leaving Inter chasing the game. Despite pushing four strikers in the second half, Inter could not break through Udinese’s disciplined defense.

Chivu added, “The penalty unsettled us. We improved in the second half but couldn’t capitalize on our chances.”

Next weekend, Inter face a crucial clash against Juventus, who edged past Genoa 1-0. Vlahovic, previously linked with a summer exit, scored the decisive goal with a header from Filip Kostic’s corner in the 73rd minute.

Vlahovic, who also scored against Parma on matchday one, said, “I just focused on coming in and scoring. I’m happy to help the team and will continue giving my best.”

Elsewhere in Serie A, Lazio crushed Verona 4-0, while Fiorentina played a goalless draw at Torino.
