Italy Shine at 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s U21 Championship, Extend Perfect Run
Italy continued their dominant form at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s U21 World Championship, securing their fourth consecutive victory to take sole possession of the top spot in Pool C. The day’s action, held across JAWA POS Arena, Gelora Pancasila, and Samator Healthporia Volleyball Hall, also saw Argentina, China, USA, Brazil, and Japan maintain their unbeaten records.
The Italians impressed with a commanding 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-18) win over Egypt. Linda Manfredini and Adji Astou Ndoye each scored 10 points, leading a balanced team effort that combined 40 attacks, eight blocks, and six aces. Egypt’s Nijar Abouelhassan stood out with nine points, including four blocks.
Argentina’s Comeback Win
In Pool A, Argentina overcame a slow start to defeat Vietnam 3-1 (10-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-15). Maria Bernardita Aguilar Toranza matched Vietnam captain Dang Thi Hong with 21 points, while Martina Bednarek and Zoe Sharon Studer provided key support. Strong serving and blocking helped Argentina turn the tide after Vietnam’s explosive opening set.
China and USA Stay Perfect
China cruised past Mexico 3-0 (25-16, 25-10, 25-10) in Pool B, with Shan Lanfeng, Zhao Zhexi, and Li Chenxuan all hitting double figures. The USA also extended their perfect run, overcoming a tight first set before defeating Croatia 3-0 (27-25, 25-17, 25-15). Henley Anderson led with 14 points, supported by Elena Hoecke (13) and Ayanna Watson (nine attacks, three aces).
Brazil and Japan Dominate Pool D
Brazil showcased their depth in a 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-8) win over Tunisia, with Larissa Brandao Mendes, Aline Segato Maestri, and Rebeca Borges Viana sharing the scoring load. Japan’s speed and defense proved too much for Bulgaria in a 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-12) victory, highlighted by Sae Omori’s 16 points and Koyumi Fukumura’s 13.
