Jason Gillespie Urges Franchises to Snap Up This Pakistani Star

(Sports Correspondent: Imran Sohail)
Jason Gillespie Recommends T20 Franchises to Sign Muhammad Irfan Khan

Former Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie has once again spoken highly of young batter Muhammad Irfan Khan, urging T20 franchises around the world to consider signing him. Gillespie described the 22-year-old all-rounder as a “quality player and outstanding individual” who has the potential to enjoy a long and successful career with Pakistan.

The former Australian cricketer shared his views after Irfan Khan’s impressive knock against Nepal during the recently concluded Top End T20 Series, where he also captained the Pakistan Shaheens. Irfan’s 42-run innings helped secure a crucial win ahead of the semifinals.

“He will be a long-term player for Pakistan. The T20 leagues will come calling. I would recommend him to any franchise or team,” Gillespie noted in a social media post.

Although the Shaheens were knocked out in the semifinals by eventual champions Perth Scorchers Academy, Irfan Khan still left a strong impression. He scored 127 runs in six innings at an average of 24, maintaining an impressive strike rate of 130.90—one of the best in the tournament. His performances often came in pressure situations, further underlining his temperament and skill.

This is not the first time Gillespie has highlighted Irfan Khan’s potential. He previously criticized his exclusion from Pakistan’s Champions Trophy squad, insisting the youngster deserves more recognition. With 23 senior international appearances already to his name and leadership experience with the Shaheens, Irfan appears to be an important part of Pakistan’s cricketing future.

As more Pakistani players continue to feature in global T20 leagues, Gillespie’s endorsement may create new opportunities for Irfan Khan on international platforms—an experience that could further strengthen his role in Pakistan cricket.
