Katie Taylor vs. Chantelle Cameron III Ordered for 140lbs Title Unification

The boxing world is set for another high-stakes showdown as the WBC has officially ordered a third fight between Ireland’s Katie Taylor and England’s Chantelle Cameron for the undisputed 140lbs championship.

Taylor, 25-1 (6 KOs), currently holds the lineal, WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO junior welterweight titles, while Cameron, 21-1 (8 KOs), is the reigning WBC interim champion. Both fighters have only ever lost to each other, making this a true rivalry fight.

The WBC informed both camps earlier this month, giving them until August 28 to negotiate terms for the bout — including date, venue, and purses. If no agreement is reached, the fight will go to a purse bid at WBC headquarters in Mexico City.

A Rivalry with History

The pair first met in May 2023 at Dublin’s 3Arena, where Cameron stunned Taylor via majority decision, spoiling her homecoming and handing her the first loss of her professional career. Taylor had moved up in weight for the fight after Amanda Serrano withdrew from their scheduled rematch.

In the November 2023 rematch, Taylor avenged the defeat at the same venue, reclaiming the 140lbs crown and becoming a two-division undisputed champion. She later vacated her lightweight belts and defended her junior welterweight titles twice — both wins coming against Serrano, including their recent clash at Madison Square Garden.

Cameron’s Comeback and Determination

Since her loss to Taylor, Cameron has been on a winning streak, capturing the WBC interim title with a close decision over Elhem Mekhaled, followed by dominant defenses against Patricia Berghult and Jessica Camara.

Cameron has repeatedly called for a trilogy fight, and now with the WBC’s ruling, Taylor will have to defend her crown in what could be another historic battle.

📅 Negotiation Deadline: August 28
📍 If no deal: Purse bid in Mexico City

This ordered bout ensures boxing fans will get another chapter in one of women’s boxing’s most exciting rivalries.
