La Natividad La Dolfina Clinch 132nd Hurlingham Open Title, First Leg of Argentina’s Triple Crown

 October 4, 2025 | Hurlingham, Argentina

The 132nd edition of the Hurlingham Open came to a thrilling conclusion as La Natividad La Dolfina defeated UAE Polo 12–9 to capture the first title of the 2025 Argentine Triple Crown. The final was played on Saturday, October 4, at the historic Lewis Lacey Ground, named after the legendary Canadian-born player who became Argentina’s second-ever 10-goaler back in 1915.

A Historic Victory for La Natividad La Dolfina

It was a memorable triumph for the all-Cañuelas lineup featuring Adolfo and Poroto Cambiaso alongside the Castagnola brothers, following a hard-fought semifinal win over Ellerstina Indios Chapaleufú. Their teamwork and precision proved decisive against a determined UAE side coached by Lucas Monteverde.

Despite UAE competing in their first complete Triple Crown season, they made a remarkable impression by reaching the final — signaling they’re ready to challenge Argentina’s top polo teams in the coming tournaments.

Adolfo Cambiaso Breaks New Records

The victory added another chapter to the legendary career of Adolfo Cambiaso, who now holds the record for the most Triple Crown tournament wins (43) — surpassing icons Juan Carlitos Harriott and Alberto Pedro Heguy. Cambiaso also achieved a new milestone as the most decorated player in Hurlingham Open history, securing his 16th title.

Match Summary

The final began evenly, with both teams trading early goals. After UAE led 4–2 in the second chukka, Jeta Castagnola converted a 60-yard penalty to tie the score 5–5 in the third. La Natividad La Dolfina then took control in the fourth chukka with two quick penalty goals, building an 8–5 lead.

Though UAE closed the gap in the fifth with two goals from Polito Pieres, La Natividad La Dolfina regained momentum and extended their advantage through strong defensive play and sharp finishing. By the final chukka, Poroto Cambiaso’s goal sealed the 12–9 victory and the prestigious title.

In 2024, La Ensenada triumphed over Cría La Dolfina (15–11), with Alfredo Bigatti—now playing for Los Machitos—among their key players.
