Los Angeles Lakers Likely Done with Trades for Now
The Los Angeles Lakers appear to be stepping back from trade talks for the time being, choosing to keep key players like Gabe Vincent and Jarred Vanderbilt on their roster.
According to Sean Deveney of Athlon Sports, the Lakers have had opportunities to include guard Gabe Vincent and forward Jarred Vanderbilt in trade discussions but have opted not to move them. A Western Conference executive noted that many teams, including the Lakers, are taking a cautious “wait-and-see” approach as the offseason progresses.
Vincent, who averaged 6.4 points per game last season, is valued by the Lakers as a dependable veteran presence off the bench. The 29-year-old, who joined Los Angeles in 2023, has one year remaining on his $11.5 million contract.
Jarred Vanderbilt, 26, contributed 4.1 points and 5.1 rebounds across 36 games last season. He has been with the Lakers for over two seasons and remains part of the team’s plans.
This offseason, the Lakers have already made significant roster moves, adding guard Marcus Smart, center Deandre Ayton, and wing Jake LaRavia. Additionally, the team secured contract extensions for stars Luka Doncic and LeBron James, signaling a commitment to building around their core players.
