Manchester United capped off their pre-season tour in the United States by lifting the Premier League Summer Series trophy, securing a draw against Everton in an action-packed 2-2 match.

Fernandes Leads the Way

The Red Devils finished the round-robin tournament unbeaten, topping the table with seven points after earlier wins against West Ham (2-1) and Bournemouth (4-1).

Captain Bruno Fernandes was once again the key man. He opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a powerful penalty, earned after James Tarkowski fouled Amad Diallo inside the box. Fernandes later set up Mason Mount for United’s second, underlining his importance ahead of the new season.

Everton Battle Back

Everton showed great resilience. Iliman Ndiaye, the French-born Senegalese forward, equalized in the 40th minute, finishing off a clever pass from Idrissa Gana Gueye.

Despite Mount’s impressive 69th-minute goal—curling past Jordan Pickford just 10 minutes after coming on—Everton struck again. In the 75th minute, a misdirected pass from Diallo deflected off United defender Ayden Heaven, resulting in an unfortunate own goal that leveled the game at 2-2.

Manager Ruben Amorim also gave a debut to new signing Bryan Mbeumo, recently arrived from Brentford. Though he didn’t score, his presence added depth to the United attack.

West Ham Seal Strong Finish with 2-0 Win Over Bournemouth

Earlier in the day, West Ham United defeated Bournemouth 2-0 to finish the Summer Series with two wins from three matches.

Diouf Makes Immediate Impact

The standout performer was El Hadji Malick Diouf, a left-back from Senegal who joined West Ham on July 15. Diouf delivered two sublime assists, both leading directly to goals.

  • In the 24th minute, Diouf’s precise cross found Jarrod Bowen, who passed to Niclas Fullkrug for the opener.

  • Bowen then added a second in the 67th minute, again set up by a pinpoint Diouf delivery.

“Both goals are down to him,” Bowen said. “He’s only been here a few weeks, but it feels like he’s been part of the team for years. He’s humble, talented, and already an important part of the group.”

Bournemouth Start Bright but Fade

Bournemouth began strongly, creating several chances in the opening 15 minutes. However, they were denied by the woodwork and failed to convert their early pressure into goals.

Bowen praised his team’s resilience, saying, “We didn’t have the start we wanted, but we showed character and stuck together.”

Looking Ahead to the Premier League Season

The Summer Series provided valuable minutes for all participating squads, and fans will be excited to see how these performances translate into competitive action. With standout players like Fernandes, Mount, Diouf, and Bowen hitting form early, the upcoming Premier League season promises thrilling football.
