Mirco Cuello knocks out Sergio Rios in second round

Featherweight Champion Mirco Cuello Scores Sensational Knockout Victory in Libya

Argentine rising star Mirco Cuello made quick work of his opponent on Friday night, delivering a powerful second-round knockout at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benghazi, Libya.

The 24-year-old from Arroyo Seco, Santa Fe, faced Mexico’s Sergio Rios in a highly anticipated bout. Cuello began with patience in the opening round, but in the second, he floored Rios with a sharp left hand. Moments after Rios got back on his feet, Cuello landed a devastating left hook to the body, ending the contest with a count-out.

With this impressive victory, Cuello remains undefeated at 16-0 (13 KOs) and claimed the vacant WBA Interim Featherweight Title. The main WBA featherweight belt will be contested on August 16, when Nick Ball defends his title against unbeaten Sam Goodman. Rios, who entered the fight undefeated, now holds a record of 19-1 (7 KOs).


Albert Ramirez Secures Interim Light Heavyweight Title

In the co-main event, Venezuelan southpaw Albert Ramirez showcased his dominance against Jerome Pampellone. Using a strong jab and precise timing, Ramirez dropped his opponent late in the sixth round with a right hook, before finishing the job in the seventh with another crushing shot.

The victory earned Ramirez the WBA Interim Light Heavyweight Championship, adding to his flawless record of 22-0 (19 KOs). Pampellone, who fights out of Auckland, New Zealand, fell to 19-3 (12 KOs). The division’s full WBA title remains with lineal champion Dmitry Bivol.


Josue Francisco Aguero Dominates for Unanimous Decision Win

Earlier on the card, Argentina’s Josue Francisco Aguero put on a flawless performance, earning a 100-90 unanimous decision over Mexico’s Diego Ortiz Aleman in a junior lightweight bout. Aguero extended his undefeated streak to 14-0 (7 KOs), while Aleman’s record slipped to 20-4-1 (13 KOs).
