Motorway Police Launch Driving License Authority in Quetta
Great news for residents of Quetta! The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has officially launched a new Driving License Authority in Quetta, making it easier than ever to obtain both local and international driving licenses in the region.
Third Center of Its Kind in Pakistan
This facility marks the third driving license authority set up by the Motorway Police, following successful launches in Islamabad and Sheikhupura. It is aimed at improving road safety and accessibility to essential services for the people of Balochistan.
Fast-Track Licensing and Modern Testing
According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ashfaq Ahmed, the groundwork for the Quetta center began two years ago, with operations starting last year. So far, over 2,000 licenses have been issued. The center features a modern, digital testing system, allowing successful applicants to receive their licenses on the same day they pass the test.
Boosting Road Safety and Traffic Management
DIG Ashfaq highlighted that this initiative is part of a larger strategy to promote safe driving practices and reduce road accidents caused by untrained drivers. The Highway Force is currently active across Balochistan — from Quetta to Kalat and Uthal to Hub.
However, with only 1,000 officers currently managing the vast road network, there are plans to expand the workforce to improve highway monitoring and traffic control across the province.
Positive Impact on Balochistan
The new licensing authority is expected to provide immense benefits to the local population, offering quicker and more accessible services. It also marks a significant step toward safer roads and better traffic management in Balochistan and across Pakistan.
