Nolberto Solano Takes Charge of Pakistan Football, Aiming to Build a Strong Future
Pakistan football is entering a new era with the appointment of Nolberto Solano, the former Peruvian international midfielder, as head coach of both the senior and U23 men’s national teams.
Solano, who earned over 90 caps for Peru and played in England’s top leagues, shared his vision at a press conference with Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) president Syed Mohsen Gilani. “I’ve already seen the passion and talent of the players,” he said. “They are eager to play quality football, which gives me confidence for the future.”
The former Newcastle United midfielder emphasized a long-term approach. “Progress won’t happen overnight. Our immediate focus is the U23 squad. With hard work, time, and commitment, we can build a strong foundation for Pakistan football,” he added.
PFF president Gilani described Solano’s appointment as a turning point. “Pakistan has never had a coach of this stature. His presence will inspire players and provide a learning opportunity for local coaches,” he said.
Solano joins at a time when Pakistan football seeks stability, youth development, and international exposure. His experience could play a key role in shaping a stronger identity for the national team, offering hope to a nation eager to compete with Asia’s footballing elite.
