Noman Ali Breaks Abdul Qadir’s 37-Year-Old Record With Brilliant Test Performance
October 15, 2025
Pakistan’s veteran spinner Noman Ali continues to make history, delivering a record-breaking performance during Pakistan’s victory over South Africa in the first Test at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
The 39-year-old left-arm spinner produced a magnificent 10-wicket haul, surpassing a long-standing record held by legendary spinner Abdul Qadir for nearly four decades.
Historic Milestone
With this achievement, Noman Ali now holds the record for most wickets by a Pakistani bowler across five consecutive Test matches, taking 46 wickets in his last five Tests.
Previously, Abdul Qadir’s record stood at 44 wickets, set between 1987 and 1988.
Dominant Run of Form
Noman’s remarkable run began in October 2024 against England, when he claimed 11 wickets in Multan. He followed that up with 9 wickets in the next match against the same side, and 16 wickets in two home Tests against the West Indies. His latest 10-wicket performance against South Africa cemented his place in the record books.
“It’s an honor to be mentioned alongside a legend like Abdul Qadir,” Noman said after the match. “Records come and go, but consistency and hard work are what matter most.”
Pakistan’s Spin Legacy Continues
Over the past year, Noman Ali has been one of the most consistent spinners in world cricket, particularly on home pitches. His performances have not only helped Pakistan secure key victories but also strengthened the team’s spin department for future challenges.
At 39, Noman’s journey from a domestic cricket stalwart to a record-breaking international performer serves as an inspiring reminder that dedication and persistence can lead to success at any stage of a career.
