Double Title Defenses Set for September 20 Featuring Oscar Collazo and Gabriela Fundora
Golden Boy Promotions has announced an exciting doubleheader event on September 20 at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California. Unified strawweight champion Oscar Collazo and undisputed flyweight queen Gabriela Fundora will both defend their titles in fights streamed live on DAZN.
The 12-round main event will see Collazo face challenger Jayson Vayson, while Fundora’s 10-round co-feature will pit her against Ayelén Granadino.
At just 23 years old, Fundora (16-0, 8 KOs) is the youngest undisputed champion in boxing. She enters the fight on the back of two recent seventh-round stoppages over Gabriela Celeste Alaniz and Marilyn Badillo Amaya. Her opponent, 27-year-old Argentine Granadino (12-2-4, 1 KO), has rebounded from a unanimous decision loss to Marie Connan with two straight wins, setting up a compelling matchup.
Collazo (28, 12-0, 9 KOs) made history by capturing his first world title in only seven professional fights. After five successful defenses, he unified the WBA and WBO strawweight belts last November with a dominant seventh-round TKO over Knockout CP Freshmart. His challenger, Vayson (14-1-1, 8 KOs), is riding a four-fight winning streak, including a knockout of Japan’s Ryuya Yamanaka.
Collazo shared his confidence ahead of the bout: “This is a perfect chance to showcase my skills and represent Puerto Rico on a big stage. Vayson is a tough opponent, but I’ve trained hard to defend my titles and make my island proud.”
Vayson added, “I’m ready to prove I’m the best and make my country proud. I’m grateful for this opportunity and will do everything to shock the world.”
