Pakistan Football Side Climbs in Latest FIFA Rankings

Pakistan Men’s Football Climbs to 199th in Latest FIFA Rankings

Pakistan’s men’s football team has received a modest boost in the latest FIFA World Rankings, moving up two spots to 199th. The improvement comes after Somalia and Gibraltar dropped in the rankings, giving the Green Shirts a small but encouraging lift.

Although still far from their historic best of 141st, this climb offers a symbolic victory for Nolberto Solano’s squad as they aim to rebuild Pakistan’s presence in international football. The team faces a crucial opportunity to further improve when they take on Afghanistan on October 9 in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers. Afghanistan currently sits at 161st in the global standings.

While Pakistan works to regain stability on the pitch, the FIFA rankings continue to highlight the gap between emerging teams and world football heavyweights. Spain has reclaimed the No. 1 spot for the first time in 11 years, overtaking France and Argentina, showing the ongoing reshuffle at the top of international football.

For Pakistan, every step forward is significant. This latest ranking update provides a glimmer of hope as the Green Shirts look to build momentum ahead of key fixtures in the coming months.
