Pakistan Railways Plans New Shuttle Train Service Between Lahore, Kasur, and Pakpattan

 Oct 8, 2025

Lahore — In a major step toward improving regional connectivity, Pakistan Railways is set to launch a new shuttle train service connecting Lahore, Kasur, and Pakpattan. The project aims to provide passengers with a faster, more affordable, and eco-friendly travel option across these key Punjab districts.

According to officials, a feasibility report for the proposed Lahore–Kasur–Pakpattan shuttle train has been completed and submitted to the railway administration for final approval.

The report covers technical and financial evaluations, including track conditions, estimated passenger volume, and maintenance requirements.

Once approved, the short-distance train will operate between Lahore and Pakpattan via Kasur, catering to daily commuters, students, and traders. The new service is expected to reduce road congestion, cut fuel expenses, and revive smaller railway stations along the route.

Railway officials believe the initiative will not only enhance public transport but also support local economies by making intercity travel more convenient and accessible.
