Pakistan Secures Dominant Win Over Puerto Rico at FIVB U19 Volleyball World Championship

Pakistan continued its impressive performance at the FIVB U19 Men’s Volleyball World Championship with a commanding 3-0 victory over Puerto Rico in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Led by captain Yahya, who delivered a strong 16-point display, Pakistan won in straight sets — 25-20, 25-20, 25-15 — showcasing their consistency and strength in Group A. This victory marks Pakistan’s fourth consecutive straight-sets win, highlighting their growing momentum in the tournament.

Yahya, playing in the opposite position, was the top scorer of the match with 14 attack points, along with one block and an ace. He received excellent support from outside hitter Irfan, who added 11 points, while Ajmal contributed 6 points.

Pakistan’s middle blockers Saud and Jabran played a key role in defense, recording a combined 6 block points, which helped neutralize Puerto Rico’s offensive plays. Overall, Pakistan finished with 8 total blocks, outpacing Puerto Rico’s 5, and also led in attack points (38 vs 30) and service aces (2 vs 0).

The Green Shirts have already defeated Uzbekistan, Belgium, Türkiye, and now Puerto Rico, positioning themselves as strong contenders for the championship title. Their latest win further consolidates their standing at the top of Pool A, which includes some of the toughest teams in the competition.

Pakistan’s final group stage match is scheduled against Argentina, which will determine their seeding for the Round of 16. A potential matchup with Poland awaits in the knockout phase.

With excellent team coordination, standout individual performances, and strong leadership from their captain, Pakistan is emerging as one of the most competitive teams in the tournament. Their consistent form suggests they are no longer underdogs, but a serious title contender at the FIVB U19 World Championship.
