Pakistan to Host First-Ever Maritime Investment Conference to Boost Blue Economy
October 8, 2025
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is set to host its first-ever Maritime Investment Conference 2025, a landmark event aimed at unlocking the nation’s blue economy potential and attracting global investors to its growing maritime sector.
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, announced the initiative during a high-level meeting on Wednesday. He said the conference will spotlight key investment opportunities across Pakistan’s coastal and maritime industries — from port infrastructure to marine tourism.
Promoting Pakistan’s Blue Economy Vision
The minister emphasized that the event will serve as a strategic platform for both local and international investors to explore profitable ventures in Pakistan’s maritime and coastal economy.
“Our goal is to attract sustainable investment and position Pakistan as a regional hub for maritime innovation and trade,” said Minister Chaudhry.
The meeting also reviewed the date, venue, and thematic focus of the upcoming conference, which will be the first of its kind in Pakistan’s history.
Key Sectors for Investment
Participants identified several priority areas for investment, including:
-
Port development and expansion
-
Fisheries and aquaculture
-
Marine transport and logistics
-
Shipbuilding and repair
-
Coastal and eco-tourism
These areas, officials noted, align with Pakistan’s broader vision of economic diversification and sustainable growth through the blue economy.
Global Outreach and Investor Engagement
A major highlight of the meeting was the approval of a comprehensive media and branding campaign designed to attract international investors, financial institutions, and development partners.
Minister Chaudhry directed officials to finalize standard templates for investment proposals and streamline the approval process for new maritime ventures.
He stressed that public-private partnerships (PPPs) will be crucial for revitalizing Pakistan’s maritime potential and ensuring long-term benefits for the national economy.
“The Maritime Investment Conference 2025 will mark a significant milestone in promoting Pakistan’s maritime development and global competitiveness,” he concluded.
