Pakistani Students Shine at International Olympiad in Informatics 2025 with 4 Bronze Medals
A team of four talented Pakistani students has made the nation proud by earning four bronze medals at the prestigious International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2025, held in Bolivia from July 27 to August 3.
According to an official press release by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), the victorious team members—Muhammad Aneeq, Ghulam Junaid, Muhammad Saram, and Ahmed Imran Malik—showcased their exceptional skills in computer science and programming to secure top honors for Pakistan.
Pakistan Ranks Ahead of Tech Giants
Competing among 86 countries, Pakistan ranked 32nd overall, surpassing many well-established and technologically advanced nations including Germany, France, Austria, Turkey, Spain, Finland, and Saudi Arabia. This marks a significant improvement over last year’s performance, where Pakistan secured two bronze medals and ranked 46th.
Transparent Selection Process Praised
FBISE attributed the success to a transparent and merit-based selection process, emphasizing the importance of providing equal opportunities for talented students across the country. The Olympiad journey began with 528 students registering from across Pakistan, followed by two rounds of rigorous testing conducted at 12 centers nationwide.
From these competitive rounds, the top 25 students advanced to the final selection phase, where the four representatives were chosen to compete internationally.
National Pride and Recognition
This remarkable achievement not only highlights Pakistan’s growing talent in the field of informatics and programming but also demonstrates the importance of nurturing young minds through academic excellence. FBISE congratulated the students, their families, mentors, and partner institutions for their dedication and hard work.
The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training had entrusted FBISE with managing the country’s participation in IOI 2025. The initiative included outreach to all education boards, including Cambridge-system schools, through the Inter Boards Coordination Committee (IBCC) to ensure inclusivity.
A Bright Future Ahead
The outstanding performance of Pakistani students at an international level reflects the country’s potential in technology and innovation. With continued support and investment in education, Pakistan is well-positioned to rise further in future global competitions.
