Ahsan Ayaz Set for 247 International Squash Championship Final
Pakistan’s Ahsan Ayaz has secured his place in the final of the 247 International Squash Championship, currently being held in the United States.
In a commanding semi-final performance, Ayaz defeated Egypt’s Karim Al-Barbary with a decisive 3-0 scoreline, winning the sets 11-3, 11-7, and 11-0.
Ayaz’s path to the final included a dominant showing in the quarter-finals, where he overcame fellow Pakistani Fawad Khalil with scores of 11-7, 11-5, and 11-5. As the tournament’s second seed, Ayaz is set to face Egypt’s third seed, Mohamed Sharaf, in the final.
The 247 International Squash Championship boasts a total prize pool of $3,000, and Ayaz’s performance has highlighted his growing stature in international squash.
Earlier in the season, Ayaz reached the final of the Colleyville Open Squash tournament, overcoming Malaysia’s Yi Zhiayi Siu in a thrilling semi-final match.
Despite trailing 0-2, Ayaz mounted a remarkable comeback to win 2-3, with set scores of 11-8, 11-2, 10-12, 6-11, and 9-11.
Hailing from Peshawar, Ahsan Ayaz has an impressive track record, having won the national junior championship title 25 times across different age groups.
His accolades include victories in the PSA Malaysian Tour-4 Championship and the PSA ISAM Pro-Open trophy in California. In 2016, he was also crowned the world junior squash champion.
