Prince George County to Host 2027 Dixie Softball World Series for the Third Time
Prince George County, Virginia, has once again been chosen to host the prestigious Dixie Softball World Series, marking the third time the event will be held in the area. The county secured the 2027 tournament after an impressive bid presentation by the Departments of Economic Development & Tourism and Parks & Recreation in Louisiana.
The 2027 event will feature the Dixie Darlings Division for players aged 7 and 8, with games scheduled for July 2027 at the J.E.J. Moore Athletic Complex, 11455 Prince George Drive, Disputanta. Teams from across the southern United States, including Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, Texas, Georgia, Virginia, and Mississippi, will compete for the championship.
“We are excited to welcome the Dixie Softball World Series back to our community,” said Floyd M. Brown Jr., Chairman of the Board of Supervisors. “This tournament has a proven track record of bringing both excitement and economic benefits to Prince George County, just as it did in 2021 and 2024.”
The county has a strong history with the event. In 2021, it hosted the Darlings and Angels X-Play divisions, attracting more than 20 teams and hundreds of visitors. In 2024, it welcomed multiple divisions, including the Ponytails X-Play and Belles, drawing large crowds and boosting local businesses.
Sports events like the Dixie Softball World Series not only showcase athletic talent but also provide a significant boost to the local economy through tourism, hospitality, and retail spending.
